Makay's big girl room: The beginning

Although Bouclette loves her cozy tiny room, the time has come for a change! We got ready to prepare a big girl's room fit for a two and a half year old princess.

When we were planning out the room our very opiniated two year old said she wanted to share her room with her future sister...What a great idea! Mama lionne got crazy with her bed ideas...How about a upholstered princess bed? Who knew upholstered headboard cost around 150$ for a single bed? So crazy  mama lionne said to Agent Hub look at this DIY bed  from the blog all things campbell? And Agent the Hub said "YOUUU crazy? When are we doing it?" So we got our materials and we got to work.

For this project, we decided to hack a Ikea bed . 

We made a template for the headboard out of cardboard:

 Cut it out with our new jigsaw...We love the new jigsawwww!

 Put the wooden bedframe together and painted the legs red, since we didn't want to reupholster them in order to be able to take the bed apart if need be.

You crazy people are making two beds??? But why?? We'll get to that later....

 Agent Hub attached the headboard to the frame with a few screws.

 Mama Lionne attached two layers of batter to the frame. Did you catch why we are making two beds yet?

 Then we got to put some 1/2 inch foam on the head board and went to work covering it with fabric. 5 hours later of tacking and pulling we were done! Two beds for two princesses!

 Here is the one of the bed. One of the quickest and most satisfying DIY's ever. Now time to decorate this room!

And the second princess? She is in the oven cooking...Say hi to little Gabriella due in october! Hourray!!!

Makay is over the moon about her little sister and cannot wait to share her room with her in a few years! This will be the beginning of a ever lasting bond between two sisters full of complicity and love!
